The INCITE Awards is WA's longest running Tech Awards Program (since 1991) and the premier event in ICT for our State.
The INCITE Awards
The program showcases and supports ICT innovators in WA through an Awards system that places their tech on the national and global stage.
Every year, the INCITE Awards receive hundreds of entries from tech innovators across all ages and industry sectors.
The program involves a mentored pitch fest, judging presentation and masterclasses by WA’s industry’s finest, an Awards gala event, and a national / international pathway for selected entries.
The INCITE Awards was originally founded by the Australian Computer Society (ACS) 30 years ago, and with their continued support, and other long standing sponsors and volunteers, the INCITE Awards has gone from strength to strength.
In 2016, the INCITE Awards became one of the programs of the Western Australian IT and Telecommunications Alliance (WAITTA) established by Sue Findlay, and now Chaired by Andrea Dearden.
Niamh Toohey is the WAITTA Board Sponsor and Chair of the INCITE Awards, and is supported by Petra Vanessie (Digital Marketing Specialist), Celia Jordaan (Chief Judge), and Simon Yeoman (Sponsorship Lead).
History of the INCITE Awards
The Australian Computer Society (ACS) founded WAITTA 30 years ago. The Society ran the Alliance for more than 25 years before the independent organisation was formed.
The Australian Computer Society is an association for information and communications technology professionals with over 45,000 members Australia-wide.
The ACS established WAITTA in 1991 with the intention of recognising outstanding performance and contributions by members of the ICT and telecommunications community in Western Australia.
During the 23rd WAITTA dinner, the program was rebranded as The INCITE Awards. While the name and look was changed and had a refreshed appearance, the heart and soul of the awards remains the same: a showcase of the brilliance of ICT & T in Western Australia.
The INCITE Awards replaced ‘The WAITTA Awards’ as the premier awards event in the Western Australian ICT industry.
The “WAITTA” acronym was repurposed, with an expanded mission as the Western Australian Information Technology and Telecommunications Alliance (WAITTA).
Representatives from a wide range of professional and industry bodies, as well as representatives from government and private organisations sit on the Organising Committee and/or Judging Panels and support and assist WAITTA.
If you’re interested in WAITTA or one of its awards, or you are part of an industry body not listed here, but wish to be part of WAITTA then please contact us to discuss how we can work together.
